What Is ICBC-Covered Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement, strength, biomechanics, and functional recovery. After a car accident, muscles, joints, and nerves can become weakened or imbalanced. Active Rehabilitation helps restore healthy movement, improve mobility, rebuild stability, and prevent long-term complications.
At Motion Pro Health, your Kinesiologist designs a customized exercise-based program that focuses on your injuries, movement limitations, and daily functional needs. Treatment is active, supportive, and progresses at a pace that is safe and appropriate for your stage of recovery.
Your Kinesiologist can also request recovery equipment and an ICBC-funded gym pass on your behalf to support continued rehabilitation beyond your clinic sessions.
ICBC Recovery Network Member
Motion Pro Health is part of the ICBC Recovery Network, a coordinated group of licensed practitioners — including chiropractors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and kinesiologists — who deliver evidence-based injury rehabilitation after motor vehicle accidents.
This allows us to direct bill ICBC, coordinate your recovery with our in-house team, and ensure your care follows ICBC’s best-practice guidelines.
How Kinesiology Helps After a Car Accident
Injuries from a collision often impact strength, coordination, balance, and functional movement. Active rehab helps restore proper biomechanics and prevents chronic compensation patterns.
Many patients experience:
- Improved strength and mobility in affected areas
- Better posture and movement control
- Reduced pain through retraining healthy muscle activation
- Increased flexibility and joint stability
- Improved balance and coordination
- Confidence in returning to daily activity, exercise, and work
- A faster and more complete recovery
By combining manual therapy (from physiotherapy or massage) with active rehab, recovery becomes smoother and more successful.
What to Expect During Your ICBC Kinesiology Appointment
Your Kinesiologist begins with a detailed assessment of your injuries, daily movement patterns, work demands, and goals. You will learn how the accident affected your body and how Active Rehab can restore safe, efficient movement.
Treatment includes guided exercises, stability training, mobility work, core strengthening, balance drills, cardiovascular conditioning, and real-life functional movements. The pace is always adjusted to match your comfort level and recovery timeline.
Your Kinesiologist also teaches you what to practice at home or at the gym and helps you build habits that support long-term healing.
If needed, we request ICBC-approved:
• Home recovery equipment
• Resistance tools
• ICBC-funded gym pass
These tools help you continue progressing safely outside the clinic.
Certified Specialists for Accident Recovery
Our Kinesiologists bring advanced training to support your recovery, including:
Whiplash Certification
This specialized training helps us manage neck strain, dizziness, headaches, and range-of-motion restrictions caused by whiplash injuries.
Graston Technique (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
This evidence-based method assists in breaking down adhesions, scar tissue, and muscle restrictions to improve mobility and reduce pain.
Stretch Therapy
A structured approach that improves flexibility, enhances movement quality, and helps prevent future strain or injury.
These certifications allow us to treat a wide range of collision-related injuries effectively and safely.
Return-to-Work Support
Our Kinesiologists help you re-adapt to work safely, especially if your job involves lifting, prolonged sitting, physical activity, or repetitive movements. We provide guidance on modifying tasks, improving ergonomics, and retraining movement patterns to prevent reinjury.
Whether you are returning gradually or transitioning back to full-time duties, our team supports you every step of the way.
Coverage & No Out-of-Pocket Costs
